INJUVE AWARD 2011 
PREMIO INJUVE 2011


I'll dedicate this post to write about one of the new surprises I have had whilst  starting my
new life.

Upon arriving to the UK this year, I received an email - which required several re-readings in
order to be fully processed -  that I was awarded an INJUVE prize in the design category!!
(big award for young creatives in Spain)

The criteria of "Injuve Awards for Young Creatives" are published in the Official National Gazette and are dictated by the Ministry of Health, Politics and Equality, Government of Spain. It's a National award and there are different categories: visual arts, comics and illustration, design, musical performance, composition, contemporary music, theatrical texts, fiction and poetry, and stage proposals. The design area consists of only 3 prizes, 3 runner ups, and financial assistance
for some projects in progress.

This past Thursday the exhibition of Visual Arts, Design and Illustration and Comic was inaugurated in the Old Factory of Tobacco of Madrid (53, Embajadores St.), which was attended by the current Minister of Health, Social Affairs and Equality, Leire Pajín, amongst many other people, of course.

The official opening started at 8pm but winners were called a couple of hours earlier to give our go-ahead to the exhibition's presentation.

The old building of Tobacco of Madrid is unusual, and I've heard that thousands of things have happened in this space before. The exhibition was installed in its labyrinthine structure, leaving the walls and many of its corners with a particular atmosphere, even showing perfectly well what kind of space it was, and one could still see old tobacco boxes lying around ¡it was great!

Once everything started and it was completely full of people, there were a few words dedicated to the lucky winners and the young artists in general. After this people walked around the exhibition, and finally everyone was entertained with free beers (as the long queues clearly showed) and a concert by some of the groups awarded in the musical performance category.

For my part I can only tell you that I spoke with too many people (why am i surprised? :P), was in
a very good company of friends and family, met with people who I hadn't seen for years, and had a few words about design with Mrs. Minister.

The exhibition is up until the 1st of November should you be in Madrid and would like to stop by
for a visit.

Este post lo voy a dedicar a contaros una de las nuevas sorpresas que me han ido surgiendo según arrancaba mi nueva vida.

Recién llegada a Reino Unido este año, recibí un correo electrónico que tuve que leer varias veces seguidas para comprender qué me estaba diciendo... ¡¡me habían  galardonado con un premio INJUVE en la modalidad de diseño!!

Las bases de los «Premios Injuve para la Creación Joven» se publican en el BOE, y dependen del Ministerio de Sanidad, Política e Igualdad. Existen diferentes modalidades: artes visuales, cómic 
e ilustración, diseño, interpretación musical, composición de música contemporánea, textos teatrales, narrativa y poesía, y propuestas escénicas. Y la modalidad de diseño concretamente consta con 3 premios, 3 áccesit, y ayudas para la creación de proyectos.

Este pasado jueves, se inauguraban las exposiciones de Artes Visuales, Diseño y Comic e Ilustración, en el Antiguo Edificio de Tabacalera de Madrid (calle Embajadores, 53), en el que asistió la actual ministra de Sanidad, Política Social e Igualdad, Leire Pajín, entre otras muchas y muchas personas.

La inauguración oficialmente comenzaba a las 20h., aunque a los ganadores y seleccionados nos convocaron un par de horitas antes para dar el visto bueno a la expo.

El antiguo edificio de Tabacalera de Madrid es peculiar,  por lo que sé en su espacio han pasado miles de historias. Se instaló la expo en su estructura laberíntica, dejando las paredes y muchos 
de sus rincones con un aire auténtico, incluso enseñando perfectamente de qué tipo de espacio se trataba, asomando tímidamente cartones de antiguas cajas de tabaco, ¡todo muy chulo!

Una vez empezó y todo se llenó (porque estaba llenito...), se nos dedicaron unas palabras a los afortunados y a los jóvenes creadores en general. Después la gente paseó por la exposición, y por último todo se amenizó con un concierto a cargo de algunos de los grupos premiados en la modalidad de Interpretación Musical, haciendo que la cola de la cerveza estuviese a rebosar.

Por mi parte sólo puedo contar que hablé con mucha gente (como no... :P), que estuve muy bien acompañada por amigos y familiares, que me encontré a gente que no veía hace años, y que llegué a compartir unas palabras sobre diseño con la señora ministra.
